How does a Swiss restaurant come to exist in the mountains of Antipolo? Love, thats how. A love for family, for home and for food is why the Hassig family established Viuex Chalet in their relaxed haven away from the city. In their own words,

"In 1984 Mr. Tony S. Hassig and Mrs. Susan R. Hassig opened their home to people in search of an adventure not too faraway from their own homes. The dream was to put up something that offers an alternative lifestyle to those needing a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. "

Vieux Chalet is quaint, family friendly and delicious. I highly recommend this for an escape from the hustle of Manila. Come have a slow meal and unwind and imagine life in Antipolo. Your eyes do not deceive you, there is a play house with a swing set and sand box to keep the little ones entertained while dining. The property can accommodate those interested in an overnight stay at the bed and breakfast. Vieux Chalet is very much home turned restaurant. The restaurant itself is nestled in the dining room with a strong lived in feel because it is in fact the Hassig families current home. However, the families living area is very distinct and separate. You are dining in someones home but it also doesn't feel intrusive.

The details scream a grandmothers home with a spoon collection and wooden clock. I loved the pops of bright colors as that is often what speaks to me in home design.

Part of the magic of living in Manila is meeting the creators behind their business. Susan Hassig is such a lovely person and it can't help but shine on the whole establishment. For me, chatting with these individuals makes my experience that much more special. Every place has a story and I love hearing them. I hope you get a chance to meet Susan during your visit. You can't miss her with that gorgeous silver hair.

Things To Know:

  • Vieux Chalet Swiss Restaurant (02) 697 0396 456 Taktak Road, Sitio Sampaguita, Brgy. Sta. Cruz Antipolo City, 1870 Philippines

  • Walk ins are welcome but it is best to have a reservation. As it is the families home they do have days where they are closed to have a few days for the family.

  • This would be an excellent item for your Antipolo Tour.
